Are you wondering what to do on Saturday night now the All Blacks/Wales test series has ended?

Radio Dannevirke's music-men Murray Cushing and Jim Ryan have it covered with another Barrelhouse midwinter party bash from 7pm until midnight this Saturday, July 2.

"This is radio as it used to be," Murray said. "This show will follow the successful format of previous shows and all requests will go into the draw for prizes and we'll run competitions throughout the night."

If you book your request at Leader and Watt or at the studio before the night the "boys" will be able to play your request at a time which is suitable to you.

"Arranging the show hasn't been without its problems," Jim said. "Listeners will be aware that Big Ben in London has been shut down for repairs which is disappointing as we use Big Ben's chimes to start and end the show."

It's tradition for some Dannevirke residents to join the pair in the studio on Denmark St and they will be welcomed this year with a drink and nibbles.

"It'll be a great night of music and entertainment," Murray promises.

"We grew up in an era before television and when music was king.

"Radio was at the centre of our lives and our midwinter bash is about playing the music our dedicated listeners love and remember from the time when life revolved around the radio."

- You can find Radio Dannevirke on 107FM. Phone 06 374-6601 on the night to make a request or to enter the competitions.
