About 100 primary school children took part in the annual interschool swimming championships at AMP Wai Splash, one of the highlights of the school term for many.
And although competition was fierce, sportsmanship was the winner.
Swimmers from Huia Range, St Joseph's, Ruahine and South Schools, competed against a country team representing Norsewood, Totara College, Weber and Te Kura Kaupapa Tamaki Nui A Rua.
Cheering and clapping was obligatory, with the roar of encouragement the loudest during the inter-school relays.
