Wairarapa MP Alastair Scott

Wairarapa MP Alastair Scott

After just few months in Parliament, new Wairarapa MP Alastair Scott (pictured) admits it's been "a bit of a blur".

Life in Parliament has been busy, with plenty of constituent meetings and wads of papers to read for select committee hearings keeping our new MP on the go.

"People don't realise the massive work load, but I enjoy multi-tasking," Mr Scott said.

Determined to support small businesses throughout the region, Mr Scott says it's important legislation doesn't stifle them.

"It's pretty tough out there for many," he said.

But Mr Scott says this thinking doesn't mean businesses in small towns like Dannevirke have to close.

"There are strengths in being here," he said.

"Just look at the Oringi Business Park. It's affordable warehousing, but don't think you are going to make your money with your business just in the Tararua."
