Norsewood and Districts School's first adventure race promises to be exciting, teacher Michelle Mitchell says.

"Because Dannevirke is becoming what I see as an active town where people are encouraged to give things a go, our school support group, the fundraising committee, has decided to hold a new and exciting event this Sunday, at the Dannevirke Domain," she said. "[The] adventure race will be similar in ways to the Amazing Race on television, but with the emphasis on participation and family fun."

Sponsors have donated a range of products to be won, mainly as spot prizes.

"We want to take the emphasis off competition, although the winning teams in each category will be rewarded," Michelle said.

"We've decided to base this major school fundraiser in Dannevirke to target a wider community and encourage all families to get involved."
