Dannevirke Sports Centre is the venue for a recruitment session being held by Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency which is looking for new workers to help build one of New Zealand's most important and exciting projects.
From labourers to carpenters, and supervisory roles to machine operators, Te Ahu Turanga: Manawatū Tararua Highway project will create a range of work and training opportunities.
"This project is obviously hugely important to the region as it will reconnect Manawatū, Tararua District, Hawke's Bay and northern Wairarapa, and restore a crucial link for our communities, travellers and businesses across the North Island," Owner Interface Manager Lonnie Dalzell says.
"It will also play a vital role in helping to stimulate our local economy, and create and support jobs. We're looking for people to fill a range of roles, including drivers, operators, carpenters, labourers, team leaders and more.
"We have a 'locals-first' employment priority and expect that a large proportion of people employed on the project will be from within the region. We want to build local capability so that we're ready and able for future projects in the Manawatū and Tararua.
