Drainage issues were at the heart of two submissions to the Tararua District Council's long-term plan last week.
Woodville District Vision (WDV) chairwoman Robin Winter told councillors heavy rain had left land on the edge of town under water. "You could lose a small child and a bicycle along the southern side of Weber St," she said.
"It's very, very dangerous and when we had a huge body of water flooding the lowest part by the possum factory it was a huge worry."
Ms Winter said WDV were seeking a commitment from the council the flooding issues would be resolved quickly.
"We need new kerbing, channelling and stormwater pipe upgrades between Weber St and Ross and Ormond streets, as well as new kerbing and channelling on the Pollen and Ormond St sides of Fountaine Square," she said.
