Dannevirke volunteer Dave Pawson is passionate about the Adopt-a-Highway at the northern entrance to town, but has found the untidy state of the berm in recent weeks worrying.
Mr Pawson told the Dannevirke Community Board this week he was concerned the cutting of the berm wasn't being carried out in the same way as it had been previously.
"We're all trying to promote our town, but if our entrance isn't clear of rough vegetation, then it's a bad look," he said.
Richard Taylor, the Tararua District Council's governance manager, said council's new alliance roading team were going back to the southern and northern entrances to town to mow the areas to bring them back to their former standard.
Community board member Ernie Christison, who had previously complained about the state of the roadside at the southern entrance to Dannevirke, said he was trying to encourage a group to look after this area.
