Tomorrow, December 3 at 7.30pm, there will be a pre-audition/information evening at the Fountain Theatre for the Dannevirke Theatre Company's upcoming production Chess the Musical which is set to hit our local stage in April next year.

The evening will provide an opportunity for people to find out about the show itself and the ways they can become involved.

"It's not just for those wanting an acting role, " director, Melissa Martin said. "There are a multitude of ways people can be part of the production."

The show requires five male and two female leads, a minimum of six dancers and an ensemble of approximately 30 who get the opportunity to have one of the several cameo roles. But in addition to those wanting to tread the boards, the show requires people to help out in other areas including stage crew, wardrobe, make-up, front of house and much more.

"We are currently in the process of putting together an orchestra for the show as well," musical director Gary Mitchelmore said. "Adding the dimension of live music to the show is something that hasn't been seen in a local stage show for several years."

If you have an interest in the performing arts, this is an opportunity you don't want to miss. It has been described by Time magazine as, "One of the best rock scores ever produced. This is an angry, difficult, demanding and rewarding show," Miss Martin said.
