Northern Districts cricketer Scott Kuggeleijn will go on trial in July next year fighting two sexual assault charges.
The 23-year-old pleaded not guilty to a charge of sexual violation by way of rape on May 17 this year and indecent assault between March 2 and 6 this year when he first appeared in the Hamilton District Court in July.
He reappeared in court yesterday afternoon, when a trial date was set down for July 25, next year. He was remanded on further bail to reappear on that date. There are two alleged victims from two separate incidents. The charges arise out of alleged incidents in Hamilton.
Kuggeleijn has played cricket previously for Wellington but returned to his home town of Hamilton two years ago to play for the Northern Districts Knights.
The charges were laid two weeks before this year's Northern Districts Cricket side was announced.
