Crash near Napier Airport blocks SH2

ROAD CAUTION: Motorists have been told to expect delays after a crash thought to be serious has blocked SH2 just north of the Hawke's Bay Airport.

A crash north of the Napier Airport has blocked State Highway 2 this afternoon.

A police spokeswoman said the crash was understood to be serious and happened at about 2:11pm 1km north of the airport.

"There are no diversions in place at the moment but contractors on the scene assisting."

NZTA has put a road hazard warning on their website at the intersection of Turfrey Rd and State Highway Two.

"Motorists are advised to expect delays."

As of about 3pm traffic was starting to build up on Meeanee Quay.
