A 23-year-old man received only minor injuries after a car accident described by police as, "real Dukes of Hazard stuff".
The man was driving along Pourerere Rd in Omakere about 4pm on Wednesday afternoon when his car left the road, slid sideways through a fence and flew across a stream, landing on the opposite side.
He was airlifted to hospital by the Lowe Corporation Rescue Helicopter and is believed to have suffered back injuries.
A hospital spokeswoman said he had since been discharged.
"Alcohol was not a factor, but speed appears to have been involved," Waipukurau Police Senior Sergeant Ross Gilbert said.
