Hawke's Bay has five new cases of Covid-19, bringing the total in the region to 24, with a nationally significant cluster now emerging from Napier.
Two of those reported today are confirmed cases, with three further probable cases.
The nationwide total is now 868, with 71 new cases across NZ.
Medical Officer of Health Nick Jones said the two new cases, people in their 50s, had returned from overseas.
The three probable cases are a child, who was a close household contact of a previously confirmed case, and two residents in the dementia ward at Gladys Mary Care Home in Napier, where there are already three other cases.
