A property developer accused of moving old houses onto Hastings sections without the required consent has had his court appearance rescheduled for the middle of next month.
Shannon Tawhiti was originally due to make his first appearance in Hastings District Court today on charges brought by Hastings District Council under the Resource Management Act.
His first appearance has now been adjourned by a court registrar until May 15.
Mr Tawhiti outraged a group of Mahora residents in January when he relocated three buildings on to a Totara St property in the suburb.
The council issued Mr Tawhiti with an abatement notice but later granted him retrospective resource consent to allow the buildings to stay on the site.
It has charged him, however, with breaching the Hastings district plan by putting the buildings on the site prior to consent being granted.
He faces three other similar charges, two relating two buildings relocated to sites adjoining the Totara St property and one related to a relocation in Flaxmere.
