What a difference a week makes.

Wednesday, November 15, was sunny, calm and warm while just a week before, on November 8, the scheduled Dannevirke and Districts Lamb and Calf Day had to be postponed due to torrential rain and violent winds.

It was a pastoral scene at the A&P Showgrounds when the rescheduled lamb and calf day was finally run for the ninth consecutive year by sponsors Westpac, Farm Source and For Farms.

Not surprisingly, most of the entries came from country schools, with Ruahine having the largest number.

The week of sunshine had brought on the lambs and calves which looked a treat, making the judges' decisions all that more difficult.

The organisation went like clockwork and the presentation of cups, some dating back to 1938, were all presented by 2pm.
