A 14-month journey saw shy Year 10 students from Havelock North High School and Central Hawke's Bay College finish up with new skills and more confidence.
The Foundation for Youth Development (FYD) Project K programme takes students identified as having low confidence and inspires them to reach their full potential through building self esteem, goal setting and team work.
The scheme has 3 key phases - a 3-week Wilderness Adventure, 10-day community challenge and one year of mentoring.
A graduation ceremony was held last week at Duart House in Havelock North to congratulate those who excelled with Project K.
Major awards were given to Caleb Kabir from Havelock North High School [Regional Excellence Award winner] and Ashley Bennett from Central Hawkes Bay College [Peter Barry Award for commitment to mentoring].
