Police by late Sunday afternoon still had not released the name of a child who died after what was thought to be an accident with a car trailer in Northern Hawke's Bay.
Emergency services were called just before 4.20pm on Friday to a property at Tuai, a former hydro-electric project on the shores of Lake Waikaremoana and about 50km northwest of Wairoa on State Highway 30.
The Tuai Rural Fire Party, St John Ambulance Service and police were all called to the incident and a police spokesperson said later a child had died had after a trailer on which the child was playing toppled and fell on to the youngster.
