A Havelock North girl is chuffed after raising $444, three times more than she had expected, through a charity disco on Friday.
Chiara Stride, 10, chose to raise money for Ronald McDonald House South Island after she heard it was robbed this year.
Chief executive Matthew Mark said what Chiara did was "just wonderful".
"We are absolutely blown away by Chiara's generosity and thoughtfulness. It is such a delight to see young people being community-minded and caring for others," he said. "We think Chiara's actions are a true inspiration."
The Te Mata Primary School student said about 50 people attended the disco.
