The Hawke's Bay Rugby Union has been inundated with bookings for a visit from the Ranfurly Shield, after the Magpies successfully defended the coveted trophy with a decisive win over Otago last night.
Hawke's Bay Rugby Union commercial manager Jay Campbell said the union's phone had been "going crazy" with shield visit requests from sponsors and schools after the 41-0 victory at Napier's McLean Park, and the trophy's schedule would be "chocca" in the coming week.
The shield would visit up to 10 schools, which had missed out on a shield visit last week.
"Everyone in the province has been really uplifted by having it here.
"The longer we have it here, the better," he said.
