Sean Kaata Dwen wows audiences with his basketball skills at last years Village Carnival
If you want to see $1000 cash shot into a crowd then get down to the Havelock North Village Street Carnival this Saturday.
For one action-packed day the roads will be closed, and the village will spill out on to the street to come alive with a "carney vibe," presidentof the Havelock North Business Association Sam Jackman said.
All children's activities will be free so parents can get an early start on their Christmas shopping.
There will be bouncy castles, face painting and balloon animals free for the kids.
NZME will also sponsor a cash drop of $1000 at the Colliers Building at about 1pm.
"I have been very impressed with the number of people who have put their hand up to ask how they can be involved."
Mr Jackman said they hope to build on the success of last year's event where more than 15,000 attended.
"Last year was a huge success, we want to replicate that but make it more organised and under control."
"We have designated streets this year."
Napier Rd will be "Eat Street," Te Aute Rd becomes "Boys Town," Joll Rd transforms into "Fashionable Street" and Middle Rd will be converted to "A touch of Culture."
Traffic management and Maori Wardens will be on duty throughout the day.
Road closures will be in place in parts.
The Village Green will be available for all-day parking as well the old Nimon's Site in Martin Place.
