At least six people escaped serious injuries in a spate of Sunday-afternoon crashes in or near Napier.

The incidents involved a car crashing through an intersection and onto a private property in suburban Napier, a minor collision involving a car and a mobility scooter, and a vehicle with at least four occupants leaving State Highway 5 northwest of Napier and crashing down a bank.

The first happened when a car driven by a young woman to the west on Bledisloe Rd, Maraenui, clipped a traffic island at the intersection with Riverbend Rd, crossed the road, sliced between a letterbox on one side and a ground-level wiring fixture at the driveway entrance to one property and crashjed through shrubs onto a property next door.

She was understood to have been assessed by a St John Ambulance Service crew at the scene.

Police confirmed later there had been just the one occupant in the car .

Meanwhile, a person was understood to have suffered little or no injury in a minor collision soon afterwards involving a car and a mobility scooter near the intersection of Kennedy and Wellesly roads, Napier.

No injuries were reported from a crash about 2.50pm in which a car was said to have left State Highway 5, between Beattie and Glengarry roads. Four people were able to get out of the vehicle as emergency services were being called.
