Midas-touch chairman Kevin Atkinson is running for what is expected to be his final term with the Hawke's Bay District Health Board (DHB).
Mr Atkinson, who in 2010 received the Queen's Birthday honour of MNZM for services to business and the community, was nominated by twin-city mayors Bill Dalton and Lawrence Yule.
He has chaired the board for 13 of his 16 years' service, making the DHB a Health Minister's favourite for repeated multi-million-dollar surpluses.
As Unison Networks chairman profit records continue and as Hawke's Bay Rugby Football Union chairman he delivered 17 consecutive surpluses.
His Rugby Union successor and fellow DHB candidate Dan Druzianic also delivered a surplus for the Rugby Union. Mr Druzianic heads the DHB's Finance Risk and Audit Committee.
