About 10,000 people are expected to flock to the concert which is being billed as one of the biggest gigs to come to Hawke's Bay, Mr de Jager has previously said.
Having such a significant artist at Black Barn is the fruition of plans to bolster the venue's concert experience.
Hawke's Bay Tourism general manager Annie Dundas said she expected the number of people coming to the concert from outside the region to be high.
This would boost accommodation and fill up cafes, restaurants and other Hawke's Bay experiences.
"It's a great opportunity, another great concert in Hawke's Bay."
Most accommodation would be full in Hawke's Bay this weekend with holidaymakers, people attending the concert and others here for the BDO Elite and Under 23 Road National Championships, she said.
Foamhand, an international events management company which has worked on events including the London and Rio Olympics, has put in a traffic and crowd management strategy in place tonight to prevent any issues due to a large number of concertgoers expected.
Buses will run on a rotating schedule to deliver concertgoers to and from the concert.
Adams will be supported by Kiwi music greats Dave Dobbyn and the Jordan Luck Band (Luck is the former lead singer and songwriter of the Exponents).
Tickets were sold out in October in less than two weeks and, due to high demand, another 1000 tickets were released and also sold out.
Adams' New Zealand show comes on the back of a successful world tour across the US, UK, Middle East, South America, South Africa and Europe.
He was last in New Zealand in 2013 with his Bare Bones Tour but this will be the first time since 2003 that he will bring his full live band as part of his Get Up world tour.
The musician has sold more than 65 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling music artists of all time.
In 2015, he released his first album in seven years Get Up, produced by Jeff Lynne (E.L.O), featuring the hit single You Belong To Me.
The tour started on Tuesday at Matakana Country Park north of Auckland, before moving to the TSB Bowl of Brooklands in New Plymouth on Thursday. It will finish with the postponed concert at ASB Baypark Stadium in Mount Maunganui tomorrow.
