One of the Brookvale Bores will be turned back on tomorrow morning to ease the pressure on the Hastings water supply.
The bore was shut down in October 2015 after another contamination event, but has been brought back online to ease the pressure on the water system - with bores 1 and 2 shut down following August's Havelock North water contamination.
This contamination led to over 5000 residents of the Hastings suburb become ill with gastroentiritis.
Approval to use the water supply has been given by the Joint Working Group and the Government Inquiry panel. The water has been fully tested and the treatment process has been approved by the health authorities.
Hastings mayor Lawrence Yule said the news the tap would be turned on at 9am tomorrow was excellent.
