It should get warmer this week but only for a day or two, say forecasters as Hawke's Bay's golden summer appears to have been swept away by dour southerlies.
MetService meteorologist Chelsea Glue said the cloudy and cold weather the region has endured for the past week should come to an end on Thursday with a high of 27C forecast, but don't hold your breath for further warm days. The southerlies are expected to return on Friday, bringing more showers, and a high of only 22C.
Ms Glue said today cloudy periods and morning showers should be expected, while tomorrow it will be mainly fine with showers confined to coastal areas.
The overnight lows of 12C tonight and 13C today are due to regular southerlies developing in the afternoon, she said.
However, the consistent showery weather may be of some relief for farmers with dry soil.
