An uncertain future hovers over Napier's Port Ahuriri Bowling Club.
A decision on whether or not the 102-year-old club will remain will be made next month. Membership has been decreasing since the mid-1980s.
Ironically, the last time the club received an injection of members was two years ago when another Napier club, Wairere, closed.
Bowls Hawke's Bay president Colleen Ferrick (right) confirmed her organisation is doing a feasibility study with the aim of the Port club becoming its headquarters should the club's members decide to close up.
"There aren't too many clubs left in the Bay with grass greens, so it would be an ideal headquarters for us if we can do a good deal with the Napier City Council to lease the facilities at the Port club," Ferrick said.
