Chilled locals have officially lost hope, as it's finally time to say goodbye to those warm temperatures.
Hawke's Bay got off to a bitter start to the week with chilly overnight temperatures icing over windscreens and frosting gardens. Despite southerlies hanging around the region, cloudy conditions over the next few nights are going to help keep night temperatures a few degrees higher.

Napier's temperature is expected to hit a high of 15C today, while Central Hawke's Bay will hit a high of 10C.
MetService meteorologist Melissa Oosterwijk said a high is moving over the country, but it's still lingering over to the west.
