MetService meteorologist Cameron Coutts said the weather was looking good for Hawke's Bay over the weekend.
"It's one of the better places to be.
"Saturday's looking fine with just the odd spot of rain overnight."
Rain would be more likely further west, Mr Coutts said.
Apart from spots, there would be no rain over the weekend, until at least Tuesday.
Sunday and Monday were expected to be the best days - fine and sunny with little cloud and temperatures about 21C and 22C in Hastings and Napier.
There was a possibility of showers in Wairoa tonight, but the rest of the region would remain fine.
The whole region would have highs of "between 21 and 23" from Saturday to Monday, Mr Coutts said.
Most of the North Island would have showers over the weekend, including Tauranga, Hamilton and Auckland.
Showers were expected in Hastings and Napier on Tuesday, as people return to work.
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday next week would likely be fine, however.
