Self-taught drummer Jason Osborne said police asked him to move along from his busking spot beside Pagani Clothing in Heretaunga St, Hastings, "because I was annoying".
"I have a busking license but I'm only allowed to be in one place for an hour," he said. "I'd got lost in the music and lost track of time." .
The music he'd been lost in was all his own. Jason not only makes up his own beats, but he makes his own instruments as well ... out of upturned plastic buckets and tins. His only concession to manufactured instruments is a cowbell "but I have no stand for it" and drumsticks.
"I used to use pieces of broomstick but one day instead of dropping money in my donation bucket, someone put drumsticks in."
Jason, 32 and unemployed, said he had been drumming all his life and busking for the last three years. "The money helps pay the bills and the busking keeps me out of trouble - and out of other people's houses."
