The spring of 2013 is less than a week away from being sprung and, going by the MetService's long-range forecast, the first day of September this Sunday is set to be bright.
And fittingly, the last day of winter on Saturday is set to be a rainy one.
Apart from a few showers throughout the Bay later today and light showers possible on Thursday, the rest of the lead-in to spring is a fine one and closely shadows last year's conditions.
The first day of spring in 2012 was mainly fine with some cloud and a temperature of 13C, while the following day was 14C and mainly fine.
This year the temperatures will be slightly higher on those days by a degree - 14C for Sunday and 15C and climbing for Monday.
