Hawke's Bay's regional economy had a boost of $22.2 million in New Zealand's largest cruise ship season yet.
The 37 ships that came to the country in the 2012-13 season contributed $310 million to the national economy.
Cruise New Zealand's economic impact report forecasts these figures to increase, despite showing a drop in ship numbers going into the upcoming cruise season.
General manager at Hawke's Bay Tourism, Annie Dundas, was positive about the contribution cruise passengers brought to the area.
"Cruises are a very important part of tourism in Hawke's Bay," she said.
