His business was so weather dependent they sometimes changed their hours, so Mr Manning was hopeful any drab weather wouldn't last long.
"Ice cream and sunshine are totally linked. When it's raining we get around a tenth of the sales." Mr Doolin said while the week would remain humid, conditions were expected to become cooler this week, reaching a high of 23C on Sunday.
Today would be a balmy 31C with light winds but northeasterlies developing about the coast in the afternoon.
Tomorrow should be fine with increasing high cloud, but scattered rain developing in the evening. The wind would also pick up slightly with northeasterlies around the coast and light winds inland. Wednesday will feature rain with some heavy falls, with winds rising to gale and a high of 27C.
The rain and possible heavy falls would continue on Thursday, but the rain and the strong southerlies would gradually ease, with a high of 22C.
Mr Doolin said by Friday a few showers and cloudy periods were expected, with some light winds.
The weekend is predicted to have rain and some light winds, with temperatures ranging from 15C overnight and reaching the low 20s on both days.
NIWA has predicted temperatures until April will most likely be above average.
Rainfall totals are likely to be below, or near normal.
