Motorists driving through the Pandora area of Napier this weekend are being asked by the New Zealand Transport Agency to show "patience and courtesy" as two major sport and community events are staged.
The agency's journey manager for Hawke's Bay, Oliver Postings, said the summer events calendar effectively kicked off last Sunday with the Shed 2 Icebuster Triathlon Series kicking off with warning signs put out on the roads around Pandora Pond.
The signs, including road closure ones, will be going out again this weekend as the Iron Maori Tamariki and Rangatahi events, followed by the Kaumatua Quarter Marathon is staged over three days from Thursday through to Saturday.
On Sunday the annual Mitre 10 Mega Walk will then take place.
On Thursday, from 7pm, through until Friday at 7pm, a two lanes "contraflow" system will be put in place as the stretch of SH2 Pandora Rd on the pond side will be closed to all traffic between Humber St and the Westshore Bridge for the Iron Maori.
