A Hawke's Bay couple were enjoying their honeymoon on the most famous boulevard in the French Capital when gunfire erupted and sent scores of tourists fleeing into side streets.
James and Sara Heuser, who married about a year ago, were dining in a restaurant on Champs Elysees when they first heard shots being fired in yesterday's Paris attack.
The couple were approximately 100m from the scene of the shooting.
Frankly Tours owner Frank Heuser was in Hawke's Bay when he got a text from James, his brother, just after the attack.
"He text me five to ten minutes after it happened to tell me to let mum know that he was okay in case it was on the news," he said.
