A new full-size basketball court, free double barbecue and family-sized picnic tables have pride of place in Kirkpatrick Park.
The new facilities will be officially opened tomorrow
The installation of the court and picnic area is phase two of a planned upgrade of the park. Stage one, the splash pad and revamping of the playground, was officially opened two years ago.
Hastings District councillor Bayden Barber, who holds Council's Partnerships and Uplifting our Communities portfolio and is a former Hastings basketball representative, said the second stage of the upgrade certainly lived up to expectations.
"Basketball is already hugely popular with kids using the neighbouring community centre, and with the youngsters at Camberley School," he said.
