Flaxmere College's popular Principal Louise Anaru has resigned to take up an opportunity in the Far North.
Anaru, who has been principal since August 2010, was instrumental in lifting the achievements of the school and has also positioned it at the heart of the Flaxmere community.
She will leave on January 26 to become Principal of Kaitaia College.
Flaxmere College's Board chairwoman Taime Pareanga–Samuel QSM said it was with regret that the board accepted Anaru's resignation.
