Art Deco Festival love: Bachelor star Zac Franich proposes to Erin Simpson on Napier navy boat

Kiwi stars Zac Franich and Erin Simpson got engaged at Napier's Art Deco Festival.

The former Bachelor NZ and Dancing with the Stars contender asked the former kids' TV host to marry him while aboard a naval vessel, according to Woman's Day.

"I knew quite early on that I wanted to marry Erin. It was the easiest decision I've ever made," he told the magazine.

Simpson and Franich started dating a year after he finished filming for The Bachelor NZ, which saw him paired with winner Viarni Bright. The pair split in late 2017.

Since then, Simpson and Franich have moved into an apartment together and have been inseparable since.

"Now I fully understand true love. I knew almost from day one," says Simpson.

Art Deco Trust acting general manager Vicky Rope said they are thrilled for Simpson and Franich who chose the Napier Art Deco Festival as the occasion to get engaged.

"We are sure this has secured the festival in their hearts forever! We wish them all the best for the future."
