Armed police cordoned off a street in Napier on Thursday and arrested a man who was earlier reported to have a gun.
A witness said armed police were stopping traffic from entering a section of Westminster Ave in the suburb of Tamatea about 11.30am on Thursday, between Guildford St and Durham Ave.
The Armed Offenders Squad (AOS) was visible at a property on the street and the cordon was lifted by noon.
Police confirmed a 19-year-old man was arrested and no one was injured.
“Police were called about 9.15am to an address in Ahuriri, following a report of a family harm incident where a firearm was allegedly presented,” a police spokesperson said.
