Rainwear that was standard dress at Saturday night's rugby test at McLean Park in Napier looks set to be needed again for the next weekend's big events, the Hastings Blossom Parade and Hawke's Bay Magpies' first 2014 defence of the Ranfurly Shield.
MetService's long-range forecasts at the end of August accurately predicted the week of rain and is pointing to more of the same this week, including showers through the parade on Saturday but should clear for Sunday's shield challenge.
A southerly is predicted to develop today, and only Wednesday and Thursday are forecast to be without rain or showers.
The forecast for next Saturday is "showers with not much wind" while on Sunday showers should clear around noon to with light winds, with a maximum day-time temperature of 16C.
