A hospital spokesperson said the patient was in a stable condition this morning.
One alleged offender was arrested in Whakatu and a further two alleged offenders were arrested in Ahuriri.
Three Napier men aged 23, 31 and 39 were jointly charged with kidnapping and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
They are due to appear in the Hastings District Court today.
No one else is being sought in relation to the incident.
Detective Inspector Mike Foster said it was a fast-moving inquiry which saw the quick recovery of the victim and three alleged offenders soon arrested, which was an excellent result.
The confirmation came after the armed offenders squad was called to the gang headquarters on Saturday afternoon and surrounding streets were cordoned off.
A Battery Rd resident, who also did not want to be named, said she lived near the headquarters and was told by police on Saturday afternoon to stay indoors.
The first she knew about anything suspicious happening was hearing what she thought was a chainsaw which was odd because it was raining, the resident said.
She later found out it was a machine used by police to cut through the corrugated iron fence at the property.
She had been walking home with her dog when a police officer told her to stay inside.
Police had swarmed the area and several nearby streets were cordoned off, she said.
"When things are happening you keep out of it, they've got a job to do.
"It was a bit noisy but we're quite used to it."
Raids on that address were not uncommon and something that she had gotten used to in the 10 years she had been living near it.
"This is probably about the sixth time it's happened.
"When you're told to stay inside you do and then read about what happened on the news.
"It's just one of those things, you get all sorts of things happening round here."
However, the neighbourhood was great and she was not concerned about living there because she kept her head down.
"It's a wonderful area, I love it."
Marewa resident Cathleen Adams said she was driving past the area and saw lots of police cars, two police officers, one with a gun, and a man lying on the ground early Saturday afternoon.
There was also a buzz saw on the ground and a hole in the fence of the property, she said.
Around the corner there were three men standing near the beach and driving back there was an ambulance and an AOS officer.
Someone who was visiting Ahuriri for the day, and did not want to be named, said she was also driving past and saw about 10 police officers with guns, a dog, two youngish men and what looked like a grinder on the ground.
"The cops were cutting the fence, I have never seen anything like that in my life and I was really scared, so we left.
"We pretty much got out of there as fast as we could."
A Kenny Ave resident said she saw police cars outside the address but did not know what was happening and had never heard of any problems at the property before this incident.
