Camberley School has announced the appointment of a new acting principal for the 2018 school year, just days before students are due to return on Tuesday.
Amohia Rolls will take the reins of the decile one school next week, following the resignation of principal Tamla Smith and four other teachers at the end of last year, due to ongoing rifts with members of the board.
Camberley School's limited statutory manager, Kevin Palmer said both himself and the School Board of Trustees were pleased with the appointment.
"I'm delighted to have Ms Rolls in the principal's position due to her previous successful experience as a school principal, her experience as a Ministry of Education Adviser, her knowledge of culturally responsive pedagogy and community engagement, and her transformative approach to teaching and learning."
Following several years of teaching in the Whanganui and Ruapehu districts, Ms Rolls was principal at Orautoha School for five years before moving into an education adviser's role with the Ministry of Education working in both English and Maori medium schools across the Whanganui, Manawatu and Taranaki regions.
