1. The Vantage Hawke's Bay Festival of Hockey
Four international women's hockey teams are competing for the Hawke's Bay Cup at the Hawke's Bay Regional Sports Park today with finals tomorrow. Japan take on Australia at 3pm and New Zealand play US at 5pm. Tickets can be bought online at Ticket Direct or at the box office at the Hawke's Bay Regional Sports Park. 2. Made In Wairoa Farmers Market
Made In Wairoa is a place where Wairoa produce growers, artisan producers and artists can sell their wares directly to the consumer. On today at De Luxe carpark, 3-13 Bridge St, Wairoa, from 8.30am to noon.
3. Home Composting for Beginners
Every garden deserves a fully functioning compost system. If you're currently buying compost for your garden, you'll save the cost of this course just by making your next batch of compost well. If you're taking garden waste to the tip you'll also save on those costs too. Here you can learn how to do several composting techniques to capture nutrient from organic waste to return it as fertiliser for your garden. The course runs from 10am-12pm at the Environment Centre Hawke's Bay in Hastings.
4. Summer Sessions at Abbey Cellars Winery & Brewpub
Kick back, relax and listen to the chilled sounds of local talents while sipping boutique wines and beers in the vines at 1769 Maraekakaho Rd, Hastings. Professor Dynamite & The Banditos with Willie D and Margot on vocals and guitar will be playing throughout the day from 12.30pm to 3.30pm. Singer-songwriter Dan Sharp from Taupo is also performing.
