An earthquake with a magnitude 4.7 occurred near Wairoa this evening.
The quake, which was felt as far away as Napier, happened at 11.02pm.
Geonet reported the location was 30km south of Wairoa at a depth of 43.m.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
Earlier in the evening, at 10:00:00 pm, a smaller earthquake measuring 3.4, happened 15 km north-west of Pongaroa at a depth of 5km.
