Art event exudes creative talent

Organisers have hailed the second annual Harvey World Travel Wearable Creations event a success, with stunning costumes, increased entries and healthy audience numbers at this year's extravaganza of multimedia wearable art.

Two shows with the theme "The Future and Beyond", were held at the CHB Municipal Theatre in Waipawa last Sunday, a matinee and evening performance that combined models on the catwalk with other entertainment.

Les Femmes Poissons, created by four sisters from New Plymouth, took out the Supreme and Fantasia category awards.

The CHB Business and Professional Women's club organises the event, which club member Rosemary Rendle said attracted an even higher standard than last year.

"The winners were very worthy recipients and there were some great comedy acts and musical performances throughout the show."

The Nifty Nanas get their groove on and entertain the audience with a routine that paid homage to the pop/disco era.

These included the Nifty Nanas grooving to Michael Jackson; the men's ballet, complete with tutus and gumboots, and children's dance acts.

Funds raised from the event will be put towards helping women in CHB with second chance education grants and leadership seminars.
