A lucky Waipawa resident who won a luxury weekend for two had forgotten she entered the prize draw.
Yvonne Stretton won a $700 bed-and-breakfast luxury package at Mangapapa Petite Hotel after voting in this year's Hastings City Business Awards in the people's choice category.
"It was out of the blue," she said. "When I had the call that I had won I hadn't remembered what the prize was."
Mrs Stretton would take the friend who drove her to Hastings the day she entered her vote.
She was not able to pick up the prize herself and Margaret McLean, the owner of clothing store Margaret's, where Mrs Stretton placed her vote, picked it up on her behalf.
Hastings City Business Association general manager Jane Janes said interest in the awards was huge.
The Hastings Health Centre People's Choice Award was one of nine awards, and created competition among businesses and retailers.
