Game 3 against Dannevirke on Park Island 3 was abandoned because of rain and Central Hawke's Bay Gold beat Poverty Bay by five wickets at the boutique Clifton County Cricket Ground on the Tuesday morning.
Gold opted to bowl first. Poverty Bay openers Roberts (35) and McMurray (24) put on 74 in 18.2 overs, a tremendous stand.
Hugo Phillips (12), at No.4, was the only other batsman to score in double figures as the Strikers made 111-10 in 30 overs.
CHB’s Noah Waite snared 2-5 from four overs and was pivotal in restricting the Bay to a modest total.
No.8 Henry Mullany then made an unbeaten 43 off 27 balls without hitting a single boundary.
He and Flynn O'Brien (17), who batted at six, saw the side home, Mullany hitting Cole Hogarth for four off the last ball of the 19th over, with CHB six wickets down for 114 and the win.
The Poverty Bay Strikers' last game, a 65-run towelling of Johnsonville on Frimley Park, was a grand way for them to sign off.
Johnsonville won the toss, bowled and the Bay amassed 188 all out in 28.3 overs.
First-drop Arthur Cave (37), Hunter Irwin (29 at No.5) and Roberts (23no as the 12th man to go in) excelled.
Cave and Irwin put on 55 for the fourth wicket. Irwin and Ged Cook (8) made 34 for the fifth wicket, advancing the score to 130-5.
Hogarth (8 at No.6) and Roberts' last-wicket stand produced 30, a wonderful effort.
Mitchell Collier (2-7, 2, overs), Charlie Dermer (2-12, 3 overs), Ryan Morgan (2-19, 3 overs) and Stella Richards (2-23, 3 overs) were resilient and resourceful with the ball for Johnsonville.
The Wellington side were bowled out for 123 in 27.3 overs. Luca Anderton (25), at No.8, was their highest individual scorer.
Three other batsmen made minor starts, but Reuben Walsh (3-9 in 2.3 overs), Charlie Butt (2-18, 3 overs) and their supporting cast were good enough to see Poverty Bay comfortably home.
