Regan Hindmarsh probably felt like Santa Claus as the men’s four-ball best-ball pairs competition started on Sunday.
The scratch-handicapper was dishing out shots like North Pole presents as he and 13-handicapper Adam Brodie took on Duncan Humphrey and Pat Tinnelly in the first round of matchplay.
Humphrey was on a 21 and Tinnelly 42. That meant Hindmarsh had to give Tinnelly two shots on the stroke 7 to 18 holes, and three on strokes 1 to 6.
The match ended 18 holes all-square. The pairs decided to toss a coin, rather than go extra holes. Humphrey and Tinnelly won.
Tinnelly also won the junior men’s net with 106-42-64 while Hindmarsh’s five-birdie 71 earned him fifth in the senior division.
