Gisborne representative netball team finished the New Zealand Open Champs on a high in Dunedin at the weekend.
The Ingrid Brown-coached Gisborne beat Rotorua 43-39 in their final bottom three round-robin game to place 19th overall.
It was a fitting way to complete a tough but rewarding campaign for the Gisborne team.
Having lost their four pool games, they then had three tight clashes in the bottom three round-robin to which a fourth side — Dunedin Development Invitation — were added.
Gisborne lost 41-39 to the Dunedin team, then went down 40-36 to Central Lakes before their victory over Rotorua. Auckland defeated Christchurch Whero 36-30 in the main final.
