“They moved the ball through court fluidly, getting it in to shooters, who had good accuracy under the post.”
Horouta and Girls’ High turned on an extremely entertaining clash.
Horouta led 10-6 at the end of the first quarter, and extended their advantage to 25-16 at half time.
But then the impetus began to swing as Girls’ High began their fightback.
Horouta led 35-30 at three-quarter time but the students had momentum. They ate into the deficit and then took the lead but Horouta surged late in the match to share the honours.
“This really was a game of two halves,” Hall said.
“Horouta performed well throughout the first half while Girls’ High worked hard, earning some good turnovers and chipped away at the nine-goal deficit over the second half.
“The teams were evenly matched, both capitalising on errors from the other, and GGHS drew level around mid-point of the final quarter,” she said.
“It was anyone’s game at that stage. Girls’ High then took a two-goal lead but Horouta pulled it back and the last few moments went goal for goal.”
It was a good outcome for two well-matched teams, she said.
