Sports grants for GBHS and Ormond

Gisborne Boys’ High School and the Ormond Recreational Association are benefiting from grants totalling $25,600 from the New Zealand Community Trust.

Boys’ High sports teams were allocated $20,000 for travel and accommodation associated with tournaments outside the district.

Codes to benefit included football, surfing, rugby and badminton. Ormond Recreational Association was allocated $5600 for the restoration and grooming of five artificial turf tennis courts.

The courts  in Hill Road at Ormond were in poor condition due to the impact of severe wet weather and events such as cyclones Hale and Gabrielle.
