Union game development officer Mitch Purvis said the women were excited to get the boots on and get out on the paddock.
“These ladies have been working hard and are ready to hit the field running.
“It’s also our Wāhine Rippa night so come down, all ages, and have some fun playing rippa rugby and have a barbecue — kids, mums, nans, everyone is welcome.”
Purvis said it was an opportunity for the union to promote rugby and highlight the special place wāhine have in the community.
“We are trying to create a more positive change and build a pathway for women’s rugby,” Purvis said.
PB chief executive Ray Noble said he was honoured to use this oppotunity to promote Well Wāhine Week.
“We would love to acknowledge the support of Sport Gisborne Tairāwhiti and feel priviledged to be a part of Well Wāhine Week.”
